A basic fact for computing projects is that sooner, or later, things will inevitably go wrong. The same is true for template designers, obviously, so understanding common problems and ways to overcome them is a very important topic. While errors such as logical problems on your template code are typically semantic, others are related to things like typographical errors on a template filename that you are trying to include, or even forgetting to close a Smarty tag.

In this chapter, you will learn how to troubleshoot common Smarty errors, and logical or semantic problems on your templates, and how to quickly get over these issues and get your productivity back. We will do that together by building a small set of pages, and fixing problems as they occur.
